Sang Huo Yao creates fine paintings made of ink and paper. His compositions are mostly based on the use of few colours and create a delicate effect of lights and transparencies. By juxtaposing different layers of ink the artist achieves a vibrant resonance between the colours and their geometric structures.
Sang graduated from the Chinese National Academy of Arts and from the China Academy of Art with a Masters degree. In 2011 he was part of the Venice Biennale. He is a member of the China Artist Association and the Chinese Calligraphy Association.
His work has been collected by the Beijing Today Art Museum, Shanghai Art Museum, Guangdong Art Museum, Zhejiang Art Museum and Suzhou Art Museum. He works and lives in Beijing.
